FRanchised cooking fuel manufacturing & distribution
Franchised manufacturing operations
Displacing / replacing charcoal with biomass pellets requires a fully optimised and efficient value chain to deliver accessible, available and affordable cooking fuel for consumers. Any failure in delivery will be a weakness against a very available competitor.
One of the most important components of the biomass fuel value chain is the ability to convert suitable feedstocks into a compressed fuel in a flexible and reliable manufacturing package. This provides the vital link between biomass production and fuel distribution.
The technology and finance for this do not exist in local markets. Ekasi Energy offers a 60 month franchise plan that includes our container plant with full maintenance leasing plan that its funded from the sale of the pellets produced.
Additionally we provide a fuel branding opportunity and an advanced gasifier stove kit in a sales agent model that helps implement successful distribution plan
Cultivated giant GRASS CROPS for pellet feedstock
Our franchise manufacturing plan includes an assisted out-grower program for local farmers producing grass feedstock to offset loss of charcoal incomes.
The locally grown energy crops grown contain no harvested wood. the d=crop is high yielding and up to 8 harvests can be cut from one grass planting
The perennial grasses are naturally occurring plants that are drought resistant and water friendly. They can be grown on poorer soils that are not suitable for food production.
Advantages of biomass pelleting
Biomass crops are seasonal and not available throughout the year. When harvested biomass is high in moisture, has a low bulk mass and low in value
The economics of moving the harvested material to market can be problematic because of its low density. If not dried correctly before storage, the wet material will decompose and form compost.
Drying and pelleting (compressing) the material eliminates the risk of rotting, reduces the bulk density and converts it into a stable and storable fuel. If done locally, this adds value to the producer and makes moving it to market when needed possible.
LOCALISED PELLET MANUFACTURING
Our mini manufacturing plant (designed and built in South Africa with full maintenance support) is a turnkey automated plant that promotes continuous processing of the biomass feedstock
It is housed in a secure 12m shipping container and is fully assembled and tested when delivered.
locally assembled COOKSTOVES
The FabStove is an advanced biomass gasifier stove that meets WHO tier 4 cooking standards for modern cooking and is optimised for operation with biomass pellets
It is designed and built in Africa in kit form that promotes local assembly.
The modular design improves servicing and upgradability in rural areas.
